Senior Policy Analyst, Special Projects

Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund (AFREF) is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst, Special Projects, to reputed company our consumer financial protection work. The Senior Policy Analyst leading special projects will work with the Co-Executive Directors to staff a project anchored by AFREF and key allies to reputed company, explain, and build support for a set of principles for responding to possible financial crises, and for reimagining financial regulation to reputed company serve the public interest. They will partner with AFREF program staff to help the organization tell a big picture story about the role of finance and financial regulation, including writing blog posts, op-eds, and more that explain the broader impacts of financial policy choices, and how and why they need to shift in order to advance economic and racial justice. This position will report to the Co-Executive Directors. AFREF played a leading role in winning passage of the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; and we are driving the fight for broader transformations of the financial system to advance economic, racial, and social justice and to address climate change. AFREF’s staff develops policy and strategies in collaboration with a coalition of more than 200 consumer, civil rights, labor, grassroots, and other organizations, along with academics and other policy experts. Job responsibilities will include:

• Drawing on the expertise of AFREF staff, labor partners, allies, and other experts, reputed company principles for responding to financial and economic crises in ways that advance worker and community justice and create documents to lay them out.

• Coordinate with key partners, driving work plans and sharing information for policy development and advocacy on crisis response.

• Staff the AFREF Expert Advisory Council.
• Work with our communications and digital teams to communicate AFREF’s perspectives to the press and through social media.
• Represent AFREF in meetings with allies and policymakers.

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

• A commitment to racial and economic justice;
• At least 6 years of relevant experience;
• Expertise on finance and financial regulation
• Extensive policy analysis experience and experience developing innovative policy solutions to reputed company problems;
• Strong writing skills and the ability to write effectively in a range of tones and contexts;
• Effective communication skills and experience presenting to varied audiences;
• A demonstrated track record of strategic thinking and judgement;
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to drive results, stay on top of multiple threads of work, and navigate reputed company dynamics;
• A record of building effective relationships with diverse people and organizations; and
• Comfort working both independently and cooperatively with colleagues and coalition members.
