Underwriter I

Position Summary

The Underwriter I will evaluate new and renewal risks to ensure proper risk selection, pricing, and terms for policies generated in assigned territory.  This position will work reputed company the established strategy and delegated authority to generate a profitable portfolio.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Risk evaluation. Evaluate submissions to determine acceptability of risks in accordance with company guidelines and standards.  Determine proper coverage, pricing, limits and terms based on exposure.

• Guideline adherence. Understand and follow the applicable reputed company guidelines, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency and adherence to industry regulations.  Operate reputed company assigned letter of reputed company authority.

• External communication.  Interact with customers, agents, and brokers to gather necessary information and to clarify reputed company requirements.  Negotiate policy terms.  Participate in stewardship meetings.

• Data analysis. Utilize analytical tools to evaluate exposure and understand the driver of claims.

• Collaboration.   Drive a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding insureds’ risks.  Collaborate with other underwriters and team members to reputed company a comprehensive understanding of the exposure and best means to provide coverage.

• Documentation. Maintain accurate and detailed records of reputed company reputed company and communication with both internal and external parties.  Responsible for documenting the reputed company process and reputed company of assigned policies.

• Portfolio Management.  Manage profitability, risk characteristics, submission flow, agent/broker relationships and customer service of assigned territory.  Exhibit knowledge of insurance and health care industries and other companies reputed company similar coverage.

• Marketing.  Assist in marketing activities.

• Project work.  May participate on projects.

Education, Experience, Competencies & Values

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred; or two to five years reputed company experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Willingness to complete requirements of the CPCU or RPLU designation is preferred.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, reputed company guidelines and manuals, bylaws, financials, articles of organization, loss runs, Joint Commission reports and other industry reports.

• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

• Proficiency with reputed company Office suite of programs.

• Comfortable and effective in presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the year.

reputed company salary range is $72,355 - $97,885. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, reputed company set, experience, qualifications and education.
