Associate, Investment Operations

Cohen & Steers is committed to an inclusive culture, valuing diversity in support of our people and clients. The Associate in Investment Operations will leverage technical expertise to optimize operational workflows, enhance data integrity, and support portfolio accounting and trade settlements.

Responsibilities

  • Daily transaction and position reconciliations as well as monthly position, market value and accrual reconciliations with timely research and resolution of discrepancies with custodians, brokers or other parties
  • Input daily cash entries into accounting system (FX, dividend, expenses, income, cash flows)
  • Monitor, analyze and prepare communications related to the processing of various corporate actions events
  • Work with custodians, brokers and traders to identify, investigate and resolve trade settlement issues
  • Daily utilization of Omgeo suite of products for trade affirmation and confirmation
  • Liaise with Portfolio Managers, Traders and Custodians on a daily basis
  • New security setup and security master maintenance
  • Participate in daily end of day process to manage the data integrity of cash, positions and trades in accounting and trading systems from current day to next business day
  • Prepare daily pricing files utilizing various external pricing sources
  • Proxy voting instructions for all securities held by the firm
  • Prepare audit documentation as needed
  • Frequent communication with internal departments (portfolio managers, trading desk, client service, technology and members of senior management) and external groups (custodians, clients, service providers)
  • Responsible for maintaining daily and monthly oversight checklists
  • Assist as needed with special requests/reports/projects

Skills

  • Minimum 1-3 years of related experience
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • B.S. in Business Administration, Finance, Technology or related fields
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to understand technological work flow processes across several platforms
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude to become proficient with CNS' portfolio accounting system (SimCorp Dimension), trading platform (CRD OMS), portfolio reconciliation system (Trintech Frontier), Bloomberg terminal and other internal systems
  • Motivated and willing to contribute with team responsibilities
  • Ability to organize, adapt and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives
  • Agrees to comply with the firm's hybrid work policy (“work from home policy,” as aligned with the Company's employee handbook), which currently requires reporting to the Company's New York City office four (4) days per week, with one (1) remote workday permitted
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and VBA is preferred
