Position Overview – Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

arenaflex is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Designing Group. In this role, you will be the technical architect behind arenaflex’s data product pipelines, responsible for designing, building, and scaling robust data solutions that serve critical business domains such as finance, supply chain, retail, and product development. You will work closely with product owners, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable, high‑performance data architectures that enable analytics, reporting, AI, and machine‑learning initiatives across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Build Data Pipelines: Create end‑to‑end data ingestion, transformation, and loading pipelines that move data from on‑premise and cloud sources into arenaflex’s Data Lake.
  • Automation & Monitoring: Develop automated testing, validation, and alerting frameworks to ensure data quality, reliability, and performance at scale.
  • Cloud Architecture: Lead the migration and optimization of large‑scale data workloads to arenaflex cloud environments, ensuring cost‑effective, secure, and resilient deployments.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Partner with internal clients (data science, product, and business teams) to drive solutioning, proof‑of‑concepts, and roadmap alignment.
  • Productionalize ML Models: Work with data scientists to operationalize machine‑learning models, turning prototypes into production‑ready services.
  • SLA Definition & Management: Define, track, and meet service‑level agreements for data products, ensuring uptime and performance targets are consistently achieved.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear documentation of data flows, architecture decisions, and best practices; mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Research & Innovation: Stay current with emerging data technologies, evaluate their fit for arenaflex, and champion adoption of cutting‑edge solutions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience with Data Lake architectures, data warehousing, and analytics tools.
  • 2+ years of professional experience developing SQL queries, performance tuning, and programming in Python, PySpark, or Scala.
  • 2+ years of cloud data engineering experience with arenaflex cloud services (formerly Azure).
  • Proficiency in building high‑volume ETL/ELT pipelines and data profiling/quality tools such as Apache Griffin, Deequ, and Great Expectations.
  • Experience with MPP data warehouse technologies (e.g., arenaflex, Neural Network, or arenaflex).
  • Hands‑on experience containerizing workloads with arenaflex and orchestrating them using arenaflex.
  • Familiarity with version‑control systems (arenaflex) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data catalog concepts.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to influence senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field.
  • arenaflex certification(s) or equivalent cloud credentials.
  • Experience integrating multi‑cloud services with on‑premise solutions.
  • Background in retail or supply‑chain data domains.
  • Exposure to data science and ML pipelines, including model deployment and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence platforms such as arenaflex.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead distributed, cross‑functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Proven track record of driving data‑centric culture and championing data‑ops best practices.

Core Competencies & Personal Attributes

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into concrete data solutions.
  • Leadership & Influence: Comfortable leading without direct authority, fostering collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in fast‑changing environments, embracing new technologies and evolving requirements.
  • Ownership: Proactive attitude toward delivering results, meeting deadlines, and exceeding expectations.
  • Communication: Clear, concise storytelling that bridges technical concepts and business impact.
