Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team in a remote capacity. In this role, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated data science models, predictive analytics solutions, and actionable insights that support strategic initiatives across the organization.

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will work with massive datasets to uncover patterns, build predictive models, and provide consulting support for various business units. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, research, software development, and business leadership to define requirements and deliver analytical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Model Development & Innovation: Build and deploy advanced models using technical expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. Innovate by adapting to new modeling strategies and techniques that drive business value.
• Business Insight Generation: Understand the business context behind large datasets and develop meaningful analytical solutions that address real-world challenges. Apply analytical rigor and statistical techniques to research massive quantities of data.
• Advanced Statistical Analysis: Utilize advanced statistical methods including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, and data mining to extract actionable insights. Build optimization algorithms, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing.
• Technical Implementation: Program using tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other industry-standard tools. Perform machine learning methods and supervised as well as unsupervised algorithms to construct predictive models.
• Algorithm Development: Build algorithms including decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means, and anomaly detection. Apply interpretable machine learning and Bayesian theory to deliver robust solutions.
• Cloud Computing & Data Platforms: Utilize cloud computing on Azure and Databricks, with querying capabilities in Snowflake. Work with distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
• Software Development Practices: Utilize software tools and methodologies including GitHub, continuous integration and delivery, and agile methodologies for seamless development and deployment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support. Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate verbally and in writing to business clients and management teams with diverse levels of technical expertise, instructing them about our systems and sharing insights and recommendations. Present complex technical findings in accessible ways.
• Experimental Design: Design and analyze A/B experiments to validate hypotheses and measure the impact of analytical solutions. Apply rigorous testing methodologies to ensure data-driven decisions are backed by solid evidence.

Essential Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, physics, mathematics, information systems, or a related quantitative field with a minimum of four years of experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analytics. Alternatively, a High School/GED with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience may be considered.
• Advanced Degree Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in STEM, computer science, information systems, physics, mathematics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a similar discipline is highly preferred.
• Industry Experience: At least four years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create and optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and optimization models.

Technical Skills

• Programming Expertise: Advanced experience in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages. Proficiency in building efficient data pipelines and writing optimized code for large-scale processing.
• Data Analysis Capabilities: Advanced proficiency in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, detecting patterns, analyzing distributions, visualizing results, and extracting insights to assist businesses in making informed data-driven decisions.
• Machine Learning Algorithms: Experience with decision trees, classifiers, and building robust machine learning models. Proficiency in supervised learning techniques including linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, and others.
• Unsupervised Learning: Experience with unsupervised learning techniques including K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, and principal component analysis.
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with Cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines. Familiarity with Azure, Databricks, or similar platforms.
• Experimental Design: Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments to measure impact and validate findings.

Professional Competencies

• Communication Skills: Advanced ability to convey rigorous technical standards and considerations to non-technical audiences. Experience effectively communicating technical solutions to data scientists, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.
• Adaptability & Prioritization: Experience working in dynamic environments and operating with ambiguity, prioritizing needs and delivering results under tight deadlines.
• Business Acumen: At least two years of experience contributing to financial decisions within the workplace. Understanding of how analytics impacts business outcomes and ROI.
• Leadership Capabilities: At least two years of direct management, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team management experience. Ability to mentor junior team members and lead projects to successful completion.
• Travel Availability: Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in STEM, computer science, information systems, physics, mathematics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a similar discipline.
• Experience working with IoT (Internet of Things) and Edge AI technologies is a plus.
• Experience in Reinforcement Learning methodologies is a plus.
• Healthcare industry experience is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with pharmacy operations, retail analytics, or customer behavior modeling in healthcare settings.
