Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a highly motivated Quality Control Standards Data Analyst Intern to join our Quality Control Standards and Guidelines team for a 12‑week summer internship (May 21 – August 9, 2024). This role is a blend of data entry, analytical support, and process improvement, designed to give you hands‑on experience with real data sets, advanced analytics tools, and cross‑functional collaboration. The internship is full‑time (40 hours per week) and offers a hybrid work model: you will work on‑site at our corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX, while also enjoying the flexibility of remote work for part of the week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, cleanse, and validate data for the Quality Control team, ensuring accuracy and consistency across multiple sources.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that could impact operational efficiency.
  • Assist senior analysts in developing visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Alteryx to communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of detailed reports and presentations that summarize analytical insights, recommendations, and potential process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners—including Operations, Safety, and IT—to gather requirements, answer ad‑hoc queries, and translate business needs into data‑driven solutions.
  • Conduct root‑cause analyses on identified process deviations and propose actionable recommendations that align with arenaflex’s cost‑reduction and efficiency goals.
  • Maintain documentation of data pipelines, analytical methodologies, and quality control procedures to ensure reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and stakeholder briefings, contributing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
  • Adhere to data privacy and security standards, handling confidential information with the utmost professionalism.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the team lead, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or expected graduation by June 2025).
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work meticulously with large data sets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data cleaning functions).
  • Familiarity with data visualization or analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, QuickBase) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex concepts in clear, concise language.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to ask insightful questions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Prior experience with academic projects, capstone work, or internships that involved data analysis is a plus.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with statistical programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Exposure to process improvement frameworks (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Understanding of airline operations, logistics, or transportation industry dynamics.
  • Ability to create compelling PowerPoint presentations that effectively tell a data‑driven story.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and a collaborative spirit.
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities and a willingness to take on new challenges.

What You’ll Gain

During your 12‑week tenure, you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of how data informs strategic decisions in a high‑impact, safety‑critical industry.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with industry‑standard analytics tools and data governance practices.

  • Earn a competitive hourly wage of $28 per hour, with the possibility of overtime based on workload.
  • Receive complimentary, unlimited space‑available travel vouchers for personal use (subject to taxes and applicable fees).
  • Have all necessary hardware—including a laptop and required software—provided for the duration of the internship.
