Why This Role Matters

Our data centers are the beating heart of the arenaflex Cloud Framework. They host the infrastructure that powers cloud services, analytics platforms, and enterprise applications used by thousands of customers worldwide. As a Senior Data Center Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our server farms operate flawlessly, that hardware is installed and maintained to the highest standards, and that our customers experience uninterrupted, high‑performance service.

Role Overview

This full‑time, on‑site position is based in the United States and offers a competitive salary range of $35,000–$40,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package. You will work a rotating shift schedule (four 10‑hour days per week, including weekends and holidays) that aligns with the 24/7 operational demands of a modern data center. The role blends hands‑on technical work with collaborative problem‑solving, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Installation & Rack Assembly: Install, configure, and organize enterprise‑grade servers, storage arrays, and networking gear. Build and label rack units, manage power distribution, and ensure proper cable management for optimal airflow and accessibility.
  • Break/Fix & FRU Replacement: Diagnose hardware failures, replace faulty components (Field‑Replaceable Units), and verify system integrity post‑repair.
  • Structured Cabling Management: Design, implement, and maintain copper and fiber optic cabling pathways. Perform link testing, labeling, and documentation to meet industry standards (TIA‑568, ISO/IEC).
  • Telecom & Network Availability: Monitor and troubleshoot telecom circuits, resolve connectivity issues, and coordinate with service providers to restore service promptly.
  • Switch Hardware Upgrades: Replace and upgrade enterprise switches, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services and adherence to change‑control procedures.
  • Collaboration with Cloud Teams: Work within a tagging environment governed by the arenaflex Cloud administration teams, providing accurate hardware status updates and supporting provisioning activities.
  • Documentation & SOP Development: Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work orders, and incident reports to capture best practices and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Power & Cooling Systems: Install, test, and maintain power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling infrastructure to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Project Execution: Lead small‑scale projects independently and assist senior staff on larger initiatives, from planning through execution and post‑implementation review.
  • Inventory Management: Track hardware inventory, process requisitions, receive shipments, and update asset management systems in real time.
  • On‑Call Support: Provide remote and on‑site assistance for critical incidents, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and escalating as necessary.
  • Continuous Learning & Training: Participate in technical training programs, certifications, and workshops aligned with arenaflex’s strategic goals.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in a data‑center or IT operations environment.
  • Proven experience with server hardware, storage systems, and network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of structured cabling principles, including fiber optic and copper link testing.
  • Familiarity with power and cooling infrastructure, including UPS, PDUs, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document technical procedures clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a shift‑based schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, JIRA) and adherence to SLA metrics.
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix, Windows Server) and virtualization platforms.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ year experience in structured cabling installation, fiber optic testing, and cooling system maintenance.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAN, NAS, and storage networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with server management tools (IPMI, iLO, Redfish) and remote console access.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for data‑center environments (physical security, access control).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or BICSI Installer.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • Experience coordinating with cross‑functional teams, including cloud architects, network engineers, and facilities management.

Core Competencies
