Position Overview: Aviation Safety Analyst

As a Safety Analyst at arenaflex, you will serve as a critical member of our Safety Department, supporting managers, directors, and frontline personnel in the continuous improvement of our Safety Management System (SMS). This role combines remote data entry expertise with technical safety analysis, regulatory compliance, and Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) monitoring. You will be responsible for processing safety reports, collecting and analyzing data, generating comprehensive reports, following up on corrective actions, investigating incidents, and participating in special initiatives as assigned by leadership.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for aviation safety, strong technical acumen, and the ability to interpret complex datasets to identify trends, hazards, and opportunities for systemic improvement. You will act as a subject matter expert for multiple Safety Programs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to management on matters of regulatory compliance, database design, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for multiple Safety Programs, including ASAP (Aviation Safety Action Program), FOQA, LOSA (Line Operations Safety Audits), FRMP, IEP (Internal Evaluation Program), and VDRP (Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program).
  • Collaborate directly with Safety Department Managers to coordinate safety activities, share findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review, process, and analyze all reports received through the Safety Reporting System, including Operational/Irregularity reports, ASAP submissions, and Fatigue reports.
  • Analyze technical data from hazards, incidents, and occurrences, identifying and interpreting trends or patterns within complex datasets.
  • Serve as the safety auditor for the Internal Evaluation Program, Safety Investigations, and elevated risk areas of operations.
  • Track, analyze, and interpret data outputs from company safety programs and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in managing company databases designed to improve overall airline safety performance and ensure data integrity.
  • Support the Safety Team in conducting thorough investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action verification.
  • Provide technical expertise to management concerning data models, database design improvements, and data mining techniques.
  • Prepare relevant reports and communicate safety-related data clearly to managers and line employees in support of the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Act as a member of the Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) Monitoring Team, oversee aircraft data collection (in coordination with Technical Operations), perform FOQA data analysis, and identify emerging trends.
  • Maintain the FOQA Database and ensure organizational compliance with the FOQA manual and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of the hazard identification and safety risk assessment schemes used across the Company.
  • Prepare research studies and analytical reports concerning current aviation safety trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Perform any additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aviation Safety programs, including ASAP, FOQA, LOSA, FRMP, IEP, and VDRP.
  • Operational familiarity with Flight Operations, Dispatch, Inflight Services, and Maintenance departments.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft systems, minimum equipment lists (MEL), aircraft dispatch procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Solid understanding of Safety Management System (SMS) requirements, hazard control, safety assurance, safety reporting, and safety promotion principles.
  • Basic knowledge of Crew Resource Management (CRM) concepts and aviation human factors.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to author technical manuals, formal reports, regulatory correspondence, and internal documentation.
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and educational communication skills.
  • Strong technical and data evaluation skills, including the ability to perform statistical analysis and internal audits.
  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA Badge (Security Identification Display Area) as required for airport access when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Safety Management, Aerospace Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • Previous hands-on experience in airline operations, aviation safety, or a related discipline.
  • Possession of an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate, Pilot certificate, and/or Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • Experience with database management, SQL, or data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Prior experience supporting a Part 121 air carrier’s Safety Management System.
