Description Abstract and code medical information from medical records of cancer patients in accordance with guidelines and definitions of the California Cancer Registry (CCR), Surveillance, Epidemiology and End-Results (SEER), California Cancer Surveillance Program (CSP) of Los Angeles County, and the UCLA Cancer Registry, and the Commission on Cancer Hourly Salary Range: $36.34 - $47.96 Qualifications CTR certification required Prefer 5+ years abstracting experience Experience working in a Cancer Registry or taking Cancer Registry classes, and/or CTR-eligible Excellent organizational skills in maintaining Cancer Data files and conducting annual follow up of cancer data center patients. Working knowledge of a medical record, and how to interpret the contents of a record. Ability to abstract clinical and demographic information from patient records and enter accurately into Cancer Data center database. Knowledge of CNEXT database. Working knowledge of computers and their applicability in the management of health information. Ability to use hospital systems including but not limited to Word, reputed company, and Outlook. Basic Working knowledge of a large university research hospital: its purpose, functions, and internal/external relationships. Knowledge and understanding of functions and activities of hospital departments contacted for reputed company information to expeditiously coordinate follow up procedures.
