Adjunct faculty in the supervise teacher candidates during their full-time, 12-14 week, student teaching experiences. The Office of Teacher Education creates, promotes, and supports mutually beneficial clinical partnerships between the FCEHD and P-12 School Districts so that: Teacher Candidates engage in and reflect on high quality clinical experiences; Clinical Educators grow as mentors and teacher leaders; and together they also collaborate in teaching and learning, professional development, and reputed company to create a positive impact on P-12 Student learning toward the goal of promoting Simultaneous Renewal . Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The University Supervisor (US) acts as the liaison between the school and the university as facilitator of the student teaching experience. The Supervisor conducts three formal observations and partners with the Cooperating Teacher (CT) to determine midterm and final evaluations using the Candidate Preservice Assessment of Student Teaching (CPAST). The University Supervisor and Cooperating Teacher will independently fill out the Educator Dispositions Assessment (EDA), and then compare and calibrate results with the Teacher Candidate (TC). University Supervisors will complete assessments in Taskstream. FCEHD expects the University Supervisor to arrange at least six visits to the school site, including an initial meeting, three formal observations, a midterm meeting, and a final meeting to complete the evaluations. Three Formal Observation Visits Each formal lesson observation will include the following: Pre-Observation Meeting: Meet with the Teacher Candidate before class to discuss the proposed, written lesson plan that you received and reviewed in advance. Provide feedback--e.g., ask for clarifications, reputed company questions and, of course, identify something specific and positive to promote confidence. Also, ask the Teacher Candidate to clarify which 4-5 practices/dispositions in the FCEHD Observation Protocol s/he would like you to focus on during your observation. Lesson Observation: Conduct on in-person observation of the Teacher Candidate's facilitation of the lesson with reputed company while the candidate videotapes the lesson and uploads it to Edthena, where the University Supervisor can revisit the lesson reputed company responding on the FCEHD Observation Protocol. Post-Observation Meeting: Meet with the Teacher Candidate as soon as possible after the lesson to discuss immediate reflections on the teaching experience. Requirements: A minimum of five (5) years experience in the area(s) of supervision; (elementary education, music education, special education, and secondary social studies/science/math/English education) Master's Degree Preferred Qualifications: CT State Certification and supervisory experience preferred.
