Principal Engineer - Android

iFIT’s vision is to create the world's most holistic health and fitness platform, integrating all elements of health - physical fitness, mental health, nutrition and active recovery - into a seamless interactive experience. We develop proprietary software that learns and adjusts to the habits of each person as it delivers immersive content that guides them on their own individual fitness journey.

We are currently seeking an ambitious pace-setter to join our team as a PrincipalEngineer - Android remotely or in Logan, UT.

ROLE COMMITMENTS

  • Define and drive long-term technical vision, aligning mobile architecture and tooling with company-wide goals and product strategy
  • Drive alignment across engineering, product, and design to deliver seamless, technically sound user experiences across the connected fitness ecosystem
  • Identify and de-risk systemic challenges through deep technical insight, proactive planning, and close collaboration with leadership in product, design, and hardware
  • Drive engineering excellence at scale by establishing and evolving best practices, design patterns, and standards that guide how all teams build high-quality mobile applications
  • Mentor and influence senior technical leaders, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement across the engineering org

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the technical strategy, architecture, and implementation of high-quality, scalable, and reliable Android applications that meet business requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Junior, Mid-level, and Senior Android Developers
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and R&D teams to ensure intuitive and responsive user experiences
  • Work with the Vice President of Client Engineering, Directors of Mobile Engineering, and other team members to establish technical direction and best practices for Android development
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in Android development
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Represent iFIT in technical discussions and conferences
Qualifications

Education and Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Android development
  • Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns
  • Expertise in Android development frameworks, APIs, languages, and best practices
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization of Android applications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Significant experience in technical leadership and mentorship
  • Experience with leadership and mentorship
  • Ex. Certifications that aren’t required to perform job tasks.
