This announcement is for two hybrid full-time Legal Assistant3 (LA 3) In-Training positions. One position is permanent; one is non-permanent and anticipated to last up to twelve (12) months. If incumbent enters at the LA 2 in-training level, the incumbent will advance to the next level after successfully completing the in-training plan. In-Training timeline (SEE In-Training Plan): LA 2 to a LA 3 is a 12-month in-training. This Legal Assistant position provides senior-level legal support to Office of Investigative and Legal Services (OILS) staff attorneys and paralegals in providing disciplinary and professional legal services to the agency. This position is responsible for reputed company legal support for staff attorneys, case managers, and paralegals relating to the disciplinary process. This position provides legal assistance that supports critical legal services for high-reputed company, time sensitive cases involving patient harm. The Legal Assistant collaborates with case managers, investigators, the legal management team, staff attorneys, assistant attorneys general, compliance officers, legal assistant staff, and paralegals to effectively carry out disciplinary services. At the Division of Health Quality Assurance (HSQA), we reputed company Washington state’s healthcare delivery system, ensuring the highest standards of care. We support the agency and divisions mission by implementing the discipline procedures for health and health-reputed company professionals and business as required under the Washington Uniform Disciplinary Act, RCW 18.130 (UDA). What You Will Do:

  • Format disciplinary documents, draft and assemble the appropriate supporting documents, distribute disciplinary documents for signature, and process said documents for service, or for health law judge/review officer signature.
  • Receive, review, and assess incoming documents reputed company email, fax, and mail.
  • Calendar scheduled hearing dates in Outlook for staff attorneys and paralegals.
  • Schedule settlement conferences; coordinate schedules with staff attorney, assistant attorneys general, opposing counsel and/or respondent, and/or board or commission members.
  • Facilitate meetings with staff attorneys, paralegals, case managers, investigators, and assistant attorneys general to project timelines for filing and service of summary motions.
  • Facilitate requests for assistant attorneys general service.
  • Coordinate, monitor, maintain, and update enforcement database by opening, closing, and maintaining disciplinary files and consulting with internal database users to resolve their technical problems.

To enter at the Legal Assistant 2, In-Training level: Option 1: High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a legal environment supporting an attorney, administrative law judge(s), industrial insurance appeals judge(s), review judge(s) or equivalent, such as general clerical, customer service, reception/administrative support, office management, operations, or forms and records management. Option 2: One (1) year as a Legal Assistant 1. Option 3: A two-year degree in Legal Secretary Studies, Paralegal Studies, or reputed company field plus one (1) year of legal office experience or equivalent, such as general clerical, customer service, reception/administrative support, office management, operations, or forms and records management. To enter at the Legal Assistant 3 level: Option 1: Four (4) years of experience in a legal environment supporting an attorney, administrative law judge(s), review judge(s) or equivalent, such as a judicial or quasi-judicial office(s). Option 2: One (1) year as a Legal Assistant 2. Option 3: A two-year degree in Legal Secretary Studies, Paralegal Studies, or reputed company field of study plus two (2) years of legal office experience or equivalent, such as judicial and quasi-judicial office(s).   • Experience proofreading legal documents using proper grammar and editing skills.
